Chemval Canada (Laval, QC) now offers STRATYCOAT products, which are PUR-polyurea systems suitable for forming both molds and prototypes. These hybrid systems are based on structural spray-in-mold technology. With high reactivity and quick molding, they are suitable for producing molds, open molding of structural pieces with high resistance to impact, prototypes and short runs, and pieces to be routed.

Chemval Canada is a partner of Chemval S.r.L. of Italy. It specializes in the development and formulation of high performance coatings and spray-in-mold PUR-polyurea hybrid systems.

Dow Chemical has formed a Specialty Polymers Team to “broaden the scope of where polyolefins can play,” as Bob Beil puts it. Beil is North American commercial vice-president for the Dow Chemical Co.’s Polyolefins and Elastomers Business Group. This team will combine Dow’s material science expertise with technologies and production capabilities gained in the merger with Union Carbide. Target markets include polymer/impact modification, coatings, wood treatment/preservation, soft touch durables, adhesives and tie layers, and modified dispersions. Included in the Specialty Polymers product mix will be ethylene acrylic acid (EAA) copolymers, ethylene ethyl acrylate (EEA), ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and grafted polymers, as well as Flexomer very low density polyethylene resins.

Great Lakes Chemical Corporation has acquired Flexsys America’s non-staining phenolic antioxidants business that includes process technology associated with Santonox TBMC, Santovar TAHQ, and Santowhite BBMC. Great Lakes will market these products under its established line of Lowinox non-staining antioxidants, which protect against oxygen degradation and discoloration during processing.

Maag Pump Systems Textron has added a complete line of pressure transducers and melt temperature sensors to its product portfolio of polymer pump and filtration systems.

A new 10,000 sq. ft. facility in Mississauga, ON will be the hub of Negri Bossi‘s sales and service operations in Ontario. The facility, which officially opened in December, will function as a dual warehouse and showroom, with an average of 10 injection molding machines in stock at any given time, according to general manager Larry Pascucci (left). The plant will also be used to do mold tryouts for customers.

“We’re focused on selling our service and technology, which is world-class,” said Pascucci.
