Datacolor, of Lawrenceville, N.J., has appointed Pickering, Ont.-based Prism Instruments as its representative for sales and service in Canada. Datacolor manufactures portable and bench top spectrophotometers for colour quality control and colour matching.

Symplastics Limited and Symplastics Inc., a Canadian manufacturer specializing in making plastic rods, sheets and profiles, has been purchased by German plastic processor Rochling Engineering Plastics. Symplastics has 138 employees and operates locations in Orangeville, Ont., and St. Peters, Mo. The company achieved a turnover of $26 million in the last year.

Brampton, Ont.-based chemical distributor L.V. Lomas Ltd. has been named as an authorized distributor of pharmaceutical excipients in Canada for BASF Corporation.

A newly formed Canadian subsidiary will manufacture polyurethane composite utility poles out of a facility in Tilbury, Ont. Global Composite Manufacturing Inc. (GCM), a subsidiary of Tilbury, Ont.-based Global Vehicle Systems, will manufacture composite RStandard brand utility pole modules, ranging from 35 to 135 feet in length, under a contract with Calgary, Alta.-based RS Technologies.
