New two-platen series accommodates large molds

Demag will launch its new large tonnage injection molding series, the Titan, at this year’s K show. Equipped with a two-platen clamp, the machine features wide tiebar clearances, providing flexibility to use large, out-size molds. The first sizes available will be the Titan 1100, which will be launched in the summer of 2004. The 1100-tonne version has a distance between tiebars of 1570 mm x 1300 mm. Demag plans to eventually extend the series up to 4000 tonnes.

The Titan is equipped with the common NC4 controller as well as advanced hydraulic drive technology, and linear-bearing guidance for the moving platen. For the time being the Titan is intended to complement the two-platen large machine series of Demag Plastics Group and, in the medium term, to replace them.

All-electric micro-molding

Nissei is introducing a new ultra-compact all-electric machine, the Eject EP5 Real Mini, at the upcoming K show. The machine has a mold clamping force of five tons, suitable for micro-molding of products with a shot weight of less than 3 g. To make such small molding possible, the machine has an injection unit designed with a center drive system directly connected to a servo motor and ball and screw. The number of temperature control points has been increased to 6, from the standard 4, in the heating barrel, resulting in highly precise temperature control.
