Bathing suit clips manufactured in Brazil by Termoplasticos Diemer Ltda. are now more resistant to sun, water, sweat and tanning lotions, thanks to Eastman Chemical’s DuraStar copolymer DS2010.

“We used to make the clips with polycarbonate,” says Walter Rudi Georg Diemer, president of Termoplasticos Diemer, “but the polycarbonate yellowed and became brittle, mostly because of the sunlight and the salinity of seawater, which caused the clips to break.

“The old polycarbonate clips even caused husbands to complain that their wives were suddenly losing their bikinis on the beach when some of the clips broke.”

DuraStar resists light and liquids better than the previous material, and its high degree of flexibility allows it to resist pressure and sudden impacts, reducing the possibility of breakage.
