World’s largest PET plant built

Gruppo Mossi & Ghisolfi (M&G Group) have announced the construction of a new 600 million lb. capacity PET polymerization facility at the company’s site in Altamira, Mexico. When operational in early 2003, the unit will be the largest single line PET production facility in the world, giving M&G Group a worldwide PET capacity of close to 2.2 billion lb.
The new facility will utilize melt and solid state polymerization technologies for the production of PET packaging grade resin. The Mexican PET market has been growing at 15 percent per year, the highest PET growth rate of any region in the Americas.
