Burlington siding plant changing hands

Building products manufacturer Associated Materials Inc. (Cuyahoga Falls, OH) has signed an agreement to acquire Gentek Holdings Inc., which includes Canadian vinyl siding producer Gentek Building Products Ltd. (Burlington, ON).
The US$118-million acquisition includes a large manufacturing and warehousing facility in Burlington; a window manufacturing facility in Lambeth, ON; a facility in Pointe-Claire, QC, which manufactures metal building products; and both company-owned and independent distributors in Canada and the U.S. Gentek Holdings is a privately held firm.
The Burlington plant will provide Associated Materials with additional vinyl siding capacity. Associated Materials also produces vinyl windows, vinyl garage doors, and vinyl fencing, decking and railings.
For the year ended December 31, 2002, Gentek reported net sales of US$260 million, and net income of US$9.2 million.
