Alcan Inc.’s Packaging division, Alcan Packaging, announced July 21 that its new labels operation in Edgewood, N.Y. recently commenced production of roll-fed labels for the food and beverage industry and shrink and stretch labels.
The Edgewood plant will initially employ 85 people and will house two 10-colour flexographic printing presses with room for future expansion.
Alcan has four other label manufacturing facilities in Canada and the U.S.
“The new Edgewood facility will significantly expand our manufacturing capabilities in North Americal to serve labels end-use markets, including beverage and fod,” David Pastrick, vice-president and general manager of Alcan Packaging’s Labels business unit, said in a statement. “Our investment in this market will enable us to strengthen our leadership position and better serve our customers.”
