A compilation of industry-wide data by Industry Canada shows an increase in plastic product exports for 2002, in comparison to the previous year. Exports of plastic products in 2002 totalled $9.25 billion, an increase of approximately 11%. Plastic product imports accounted for $6.82 billion, representing an increase of about 9%. Exports of Canadian molds rose to $1.3 billion in 2002, an increase of nearly 25% over the previous year. Imports of molds declined slightly to $577 million. Another gain was seen in exports of plastics processing equipment, which rose 6.2% to $975 million. The numbers were compiled from a combination of specific commodity code data and Statistics Canada industry data.
