Consolidated Container Company (CCC), a manufacturer of blow molded packaging products, has announced plans to buy Quintex, a firm specializing in custom injection and blow molding.
Quintex, which has two facilities in Salt Lake City, Utah and Spokane, Wash., molds plastic components, assemblies and provides technical services to its clients.
Acquisition of the Atlanta, Ga.-based CCC will allow the firm to further expand its reach into the U.S. Mountain states.
The transaction is expected to close within several weeks, CCC said.
CCC operates 54 manufacturing facilities in the U.S., as well as one facility in Canada in Mississauga, Ont. and two in Mexico. The firm has 575 manufacturing lines spread across these 57 facilities. However, the firm is continuing to expand across the U.S.; Quintex is CCC’s fourth acquisition in the past 12 months.
In December 2005, CCC finalized its purchase of Warren, Ohio-based, Steel Valley Plastics, a manufacturer of three and five-gallon polycarbonate (PC) water bottles, and announced plans to add two more manufacturing lines to the facility.
At the same time the firm said it would wind down operations at its PC manufacturing facility in Leetsdale, Pa.; the plant closed its doors in February.
Last June CCC acquired Carson, Calif.-based Mayfair Plastics to expand its mid-market manufacturing capabilities on the West Coast of the U.S., CCC said.
As well as providing CCC with continuous-extrusion shuttle machinery, the firm added it would allow it to expand its custom bottle business for smaller and mid-market customers. This would be accomplished through an integrated offering of similar bottles the recently acquired STC Plastics plant in Chino Hills, Calif., and other CCC plants in the Los Angeles area, CCC said.
