Cologne, Germany-based Lanxess has invested about €20 million (US$28 million) in the facility, which will have an initial production capacity of 20,000 metric tons per year. The plant will compound nylon and polybutylene terephthalate with additives and glass fibre reinforcements to create its Durethan and Pocan brand materials, primarily for use in automotive applications.
The plant employs about 50 people.
“This major investment in a state-of-the-art compounding plant underlines our strong commitment to our customers in Brazil and Latin America,” said Werner Breuers, member of the Lanxess Board of Management.
