Bekum to move production from Berlin to Austria

Germany-based blow molding machine maker Bekum Maschinenfabriken GmbH is moving its Berlin production to its other plant, in Traismauer, Austria.

In a statement posted on its website, Bekum referred to the move as a “realignment.”

“In order to realize an increase in productivity, the relocation of the production line from Berlin to Traismauer along with a restructuring of the Berlin facility is necessary,” the company said. “[The restructuring will be] realized in the framework of a self-administration. We are confident that the intended restructuring and the realignment will form the basis for an excellent market positioning.”

Bekum America Corp. and Bekum Austria will not be affected by the restructuring, the statement said.

The restructuring process is expected to be completed in the spring of 2015.
