The CEO of Germany-based materials supplier Styrolution has stepped down.

Roberto Gualdoni, who has led the company as CEO since its founding in 2011, is leaving the company for what it calls “personal reasons”, and will be replaced as of January 1, 2015 by industry veteran and current Styrolution president Kevin McQuade.

The 58-year-old McQuade currently serves as president, Europe, Middle East and Africa at Styrolution. McQuade’s career began in 1980 at Mobil Chemical Company, where he held various technical, production and commercial positions before moving to BASF in 1992 and becoming Business Director for the Styrenics division. He joined Styrolution in 2011.

“It’s my personal ambition to make the shifts towards higher-growth industries, towards a portfolio focused on styrenic specialties and ABS Standard, as well as towards a stronger footprint in emerging markets a reality,” McQuade said in a statement.

Styrolution is a global styrenics supplier with a focus on styrene monomer, polystyrene, ABS Standard and styrenic specialties. The company employs approximately 3,200 people and operates 17 production sites in ten countries.
