Browitt entered the industry in 1962, starting with Northern Electric Wire and Cable in Lachine, Que.

He became a member of SPE in 1966, serving on the Quebec Section Board for many years and as president in 1982-1983. He was elected the Quebec International Councilor of SPE and served on the executive committee for 11 years before becoming president of the organization in 2001-2002 – only the second non-U.S. citizen ever to hold that post.

Browitt’s son Paul becomes the new president of Terinex effective January 1, 2010.
