The planned Canadian Pavilion at the upcoming K 2013 trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany has been cancelled due to a lack of registrants.

The planned Canadian Pavilion at the upcoming K 2013 trade show in Düsseldorf, Germany has been cancelled due to a lack of registrants.

“After a somewhat shaky experience at the K 2010 show, we were very optimistic for next year, especially after a rather upbeat North American NPE show in Orlando in April and the first-time ever support of the project by the Ontario provincial government,” Stefan Egge, of Messe Düssoldorf (Canada), told Canadian Plastics. “Nevertheless, there was not much interest in the pavilion among Canadian show registrants, and no willingness to commit to space by end of August. This led to the decision to release the space back to show management as the event is once again over-booked.”

But the Canadian presence at the show itself shows signs of being strong. “K 2013 is completely sold out again and we have seen a record level of space bookings from the individual exhibitors from Canada that all committed to the show before the May 30, 2012 registration deadline,” Egge said.

Some 3,000 exhibiting companies will be participating in K 2013 from October 16 to October 23, 2013. In addition to Canada, suppliers from Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and the U.S. will be strongly represented, while the number of Asian manufacturers from China, Taiwan and India has again risen, Messe Düsseldorf said in a statement.
