Canada’s only plastics trade show in 2014 has kicked off in Montreal.

Expoplast is running November 19-20 at the Palais des congrès in Montreal. Last staged in 2012, the show has a near 40-year history as the dedicated resource to custom and captive molders in Quebec, and features some of the top suppliers of processing machinery, auxiliary equipment, molds, molding components, materials, and services providers.

The show has a big market to serve: there are almost 650 plastics processing establishments in the province, producing more than 26 per cent of all plastic products made in Canada. Quebec plastics processors employ 21,336 people, according to the Institut de la statistique du Québec, generate an annual payroll of $926 million, and spend approximately $2.60 billion per year on materials and supplies used in production.

Adding to its strength, this time around the Expoplast show – which is owned by UBM Canon – continues its co-location with five other UBM Canon shows: PACKEX (packaging); Design & Manufacturing; Powder & Bulk Solids; ATX (automation); and Aerocon (aerospace and defense).

While attendance figures are not yet available, there are over 300 exhibitors in total in the six shows.
