Film and sheet extrusion equipment maker Macro Engineering & Technology Inc. has expanded its production facilities as the result of a recent boom in sales activity.

The Mississauga, Ont.-based company has expanded into a neighboring building to make room for the extra production. The building, which will increase Macro’s production floor space by approximately 40 per cent, will be used mainly for setting up and testing machinery prior to shipment, the company said.

Macro has also increased its employee base by 15 per cent since December, primarily by hiring mechanical engineers and project managers to help handle the elevated workload.

“Sales have been taken for a variety of machine types ranging from multilayer blown film lines, to specialty extrusion systems, to custom-built winding equipment,” said Andrew Erskine, Macro’s sales & marketing coordinator. “The orders are from both local and global customers with European, South American, Chinese, Canadian and U.S. markets being the most prominent.”
