In a bid to beef up its custom robotic automation and injection molding services, U.S.-based Tessy Plastics Corp. has acquired NuTec Tooling Systems Inc. and Custom Tool & Design.

The terms of both deals have not been disclosed.

Founded in 1983, Meadville, Pa.-based NuTec has been in a partnership with Tessy for more than 15 years. In a press release, Tessy said that it plans to maintain the 62 jobs at the Meadville facility.

“We look forward to partnering with NuTec, as they have always done great work for us,” Tessy president Roland Beck said in the statement. “Providing the highest quality to our customers is what matters the most to us. Having our own automation shop will allow for more efficient production, innovation, and detailed quality control.”

Headquartered in Erie, Pa., Custom Tool & Design is a full-scale injection mold manufacturer founded in 1971 that builds high-volume plastic injection molds for the consumer products and medical markets. “CTD will allow Tessy to expand our expertise in tool manufacturing and supply highly technical injection molds directly to our customers,” said Tessy vice president of engineering, Stafford Frearson. “We will be able improve our costs, shorten our lead times and enhance our production support to our customers.”

Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Skaneateles, N.Y., Tessy is a custom injection molder.
