Russell Broome, the managing director of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), will be stepping down at the end of August 2017.
Broome has over 25 years of involvement with the Bethel, Conn.-based SPE, including a term as president of the organization in 2011-2012.
In a statement, the SPE described Broome as having been “instrumental in growing the student and young professional membership within SPE” while serving as its managing director. “Through his role, he successfully established the Next Generation Advisory Board, a group that plans and sponsors activities which teach the next generation of plastics professionals practical life skills which allow them to be more successful both in their work and personal lives,” SPE CEO Patrick Farrey said in the statement.
“While I don’t have the next path all ironed out yet, you can rest assured I’m not leaving the plastics industry,” Broome said. “It’s an exciting time to be in the plastics industry and manufacturing space and I will take the time required to make sure I choose the right next passion while also spending much needed time with my family.”
