Reifenhuser buying Kiefel blown film business from Brckner

Germany-based film extrusion firm Reifenhäuser has acquired Kiefel’s blown film extrusion unit from Brückner.

Effective January 1, 2009, all of Brückner’s equity interest in Worms, Germany-based Kiefel Extrusion GmbH will be sold to Reifenhäuser, creating a new firm called Reifenhäuser Kiefel Extrusion.

Terms of the purchase have not been disclosed.

In a press statement, the Reifenhäuser firm said the acquisition has substantially strengthened its existing commitment to this market segment. “With the takeover, we are creating the best prerequisites to consolidate and further develop our leading position in the global market for extrusion lines,” said Ulrich Reifenhäuser, managing director of the firm. “Our objective is to grow and further develop the Brückner Group through targeted strategic acquisitions. We specifically see the next one to two years as a favourable period for this objective.”
