No one was injured during a major fire at an extrusion processing plant in Hazelridge, Man. on March 2, although the plant itself has been destroyed.
As reported by national and local news agencies, the fire at Heartland Colony Farms required 35 firefighters to extinguish and completely destroyed the farm’s 5,000-square-foot commercial plant, which manufactured plastic building cladding.
Authorities believe the fire was accidental, and damage is estimated at $2 million.
The extrusion plant is run by a Hutterite colony.
