3D design software maker Autodesk Inc. is buying software developer Delcam plc for approximately US$276 million.

3D design software maker Autodesk Inc. is buying software developer Delcam plc for approximately US$276 million.

The deal is expected to close in Autodesk’s first quarter of fiscal 2015. Autodesk is headquartered in Mill Valley, Calif.

Headquartered in Birmingham, UK, Delcam is a leading supplier of advanced CAM and industrial measurement solutions for the manufacturing industry, with more than 30 offices worldwide, approximately 600 employees, reported revenues for its fiscal 2012 of 47.1 million euros.

“Together Autodesk and Delcam will help further the development and implementation of technology for digital manufacturing,” Autodesk chief executive Carl Bass said in a statement.

This latest planned acquisition follows Autodesk purchase of CAM software developer HSMWorks in October 2012.
