Mold supplier StackTeck Systems Ltd. has acquired Hong Kong-based Matrix Technology Specialists to create a new company – StackTeck Matrix Systems – and expand StackTeck’s presence in Asia.

According to a June 30 news release from Brampton, Ont.-based StackTeck, the new company will have operations in Toronto, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Thailand and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

“We wanted to be able to provide more comprehensive solutions to the global market for injection molding packaging equipment,” said StackTeck president Randy Yakimishyn. “It was key for us to have an experienced, trusted Asian partner to provide access to the technology and the supply chain.”

Matrix Technology is a relatively new company itself, founded in 2007, but Yakimishyn said it has already amassed a good track record for servicing the Asian market and OEM’s throughout the region.

The new company plans to unveil a new range of food and beverage packaging systems at the K2010 trade show in October; StackTeck develops and manufactures injection molds for thin wall, in-mold labeling, beverage closures and consumer packaged goods.
