Rigid plastic container maker Pretium Packaging has named long-time packing industry executive James Rooney as its new CEO.
In an Aug. 26 news release, Pretium officials said that Rooney has more than 30 years of leadership experience in the packaging industry, “with a proven track record of strategic growth, manufacturing excellence, and customer-centric focus.”
Rooney has previously held senior leadership positions at packaging suppliers DazPak Flexible Packaging, ALPLA Corp., Owens Illinois, and Amcor.
Rooney replaces former CEO and president Paul Kayser, who had been in the role since 2016. In October 2023, Pretium named Adam Doane president to take over that position for Kayser; he had previously been chief operating officer.
Headquartered in St. Louis, Pretium currently operates 25 facilities, and has been owned by private investment firm Clearlake Capital Group since 2020. The company’s multi-use packaging solutions are based primarily on PET, HDPE, and polypropylene resin, with a wide array of options including up to 100 per cent post-consumer recycled material content.
