A Montreal production plant is being refitted to produce resins for the packaging industry under the name Selenis Canada.

The facility, formerly PTT Poly Canada Limited Partnership’s East Montreal plant, has been purchased by Portugal-based private equity firm Imatosgil Group (IMG).

IMG plans to modify the current plant to produce PET. The plant, Canada’s first PET production facility, is due to start operations during the third quarter of 2010.

“We are very pleased with this news, as IMG will ensure not only the plant’s business continuity, but also the creation of about 60 jobs,” said Giovanni Iadeluca, CEO of Selenis Canada.
