Acquisition is intended to strengthen Intertape’s position in filament tape.

In a bid to strengthen its presence in the filament tape industry, Canada-based Intertape Polymer Group Inc. is acquiring RJM Manufacturing Inc., a maker of filament and pressure sensitive tapes, for US$11 million.

TaraTape develops, manufactures and markets pressure sensitive adhesive tapes used for industrial packaging and specialty applications. The company is headquartered in Fairless Hills, Pa., and has approximately 55 employees.

“We believe this acquisition in the filament tape industry will strengthen our market position mainly in filament tapes and provide many opportunities for operational synergies,” Intertape CEO Greg Yull said in a statement.

Intertape has corporate headquarters in Montreal and Sarasota, Fla., as well as operations in 16 locations, including 11 manufacturing facilities in North America and one in Europe. The company develops, manufactures and sells a variety of film-based pressure-sensitive and water-activated tapes, polyethylene and specialized polyolefin films, woven coated fabrics and complementary packaging systems for industrial and retail use.
