Plastic packager Berry Plastics Corporation is consolidating its two Orillia, Ont. plants, resulting in some job losses, according to a local news report.  

Plastic packager Berry Plastics Corporation is consolidating its two Orillia, Ont. plants, resulting in some job losses, according to a local news report.  

According to an article in the Orillia Packet & Times newspaper, the city of Orillia has confirmed that the company is consolidating its two facilities and that some workers will be let go as a result.

The company is said to employ approximately 90 people at both plants.

Headquartered in Evansville, Ind., Berry Plastics has 80 manufacturing facilities worldwide and over 16,000 employees.

In December 2009, Berry Plastics bought out Pliant Corporation, whose 16 factories around the world, including in Orillia, were on the brink of bankruptcy. Pliant Corporation was also a plastics manufacturer producing blown, cast and coextruded films for the flexible packaging industry.
