With funding help from Ontario provincial government, Belleville, Ont.-based firm is undertaking a $7.8 million investment project.

Packaging supplier Berry Plastics Canada is adding 16 new jobs through a $7.8 million project at its plant in Belleville, Ont.

With $780,000 from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund, Berry Plastics Canada will invest in new technology to help double production of stretch films, which its clients use to secure products to pallets during distribution.

Along with creating the new jobs, the fund said the project will help retain 50 jobs at the site.

The funds typically cover up to 15 per cent of eligible project costs, with the recipient company funding the remainder from its own resources.
