Berry Group buys film maker Clopay Plastics

Headquartered in Ohio, Clopay Plastics manufactures specialty plastic films for hygienic, health care, and industrial products.

Film maker Clopay Plastics Company has been acquired by plastic product supplier Berry Global Group for US$475 million.

Clopay was sold by parent company Griffon Corp., which owns several Clopay Plastics locations around North America, Brazil, and Germany. According to Griffon Corp., Clopay Plastics generated US$468 million in revenue for the fiscal period ending June 30.

“Clopay Plastics has an 83-year legacy of innovation and technical leadership, a state-of-the-art manufacturing base with global reach, outstanding personnel, and long-term relationships with blue-chip customers,” Griffon Corp. CEO Ronald J. Kramer said in a statement. “[It is] a well-recognized, trusted provider of specialty plastic films with a strong management team and outstanding employees. We appreciate their many years of contributions to Griffon, and know they will continue to thrive as a part of Berry Global.”

Berry Group is headquartered in Evansville, Ind. The company is a global manufacturer and marketer of plastic packaging products.

The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2018.
