Bemis purchases barrier liner maker Shield Pack

Flexible packager Bemis Company Inc. has acquired Shield Pack, LLC, a manufacturer of high barrier liners for bulk container packaging.

The financial details of the deal have not yet been disclosed.

According to a Bemis Company statement, Monroe, La.-based Shield Pack generates annual net sales of around US$25 million.

“This acquisition expands our reach into new market applications for bulk liquids and other products that require barrier packaging,” said Henry Theisen, president and CEO of Bemis Company. “Shield Pack’s expertise in moisture and oxygen barrier technology complements our existing technological capabilities and our focus on high barrier packaging solutions.”

Neenah, Wis.-based Bemis manufactures a range of proprietary film structures for food, consumer products, medical and pharmaceutical packaging applications. The company has 81 facilities in 12 countries.
