Sainte-Foy, Que.-based mold maker Rocand Inc. is opening a manufacturing operation in Silao, Mexico, to supply local customers.

The 4,128 m2 facility is equipped with high-speed 5-axis CNC machines and injection presses for mold making and plastic-part injection, both for production and prototypes.

“With this new manufacturing plant, Rocand is able to increase its production capacity and collaborate even more closely with its clients and partners,” Rocand vice president of operations Sarah Bégin said in a statement.

The statement also said that the firm hopes to employ over 100 workers when the Rocand Molde y Plástico S de RL de CV operation is at full speed by 2020.

Founded in 1996, Rocand manufactures extrusion blow and high tech complex injection molds. In addition to its new presence in Mexico, the company has technical support centres in Brazil, France, and Germany.
