Spain-based material supplier Merquinsa – with North American headquarters in Seabrook, N.H. – has expanded its range of bio-based TPUs with new grades ranging from 85 Shore A to 60 Shore D.

The Pearlthane Eco series was launched as the industry’s first bio-based TPUs back at the K 2007 show in Dusseldorf, Germany. These new injection molding grades , released a few months ago, are made from up to 60 per cent renewable resources – such as vegetable oils and fatty acids – and are said to offer equivalent or better performance compared to traditional TPUs for consumer electronics, sporting goods, and footwear.
