To highlight the pure taste and quality of treated water, Fantom Technologies of Welland, ON chose Eastman Chemical Company’s DuraStar copolymer for its Calypso Microbiological Water Processor. The Calypso is the first product of its kind, a water processor designed for home use that does what no other filter system alone can do — kill harmful bacteria and pathogens as well as reduce common contaminants. DuraStar is used for the processor’s clear treatment chamber and clean water carafe.
“We needed a clear, clean, pristine material that we knew would stand up to the rigors of ozone exposure, which in other resins can lead to premature hazing and cracking,” said Linda Watson, Fantom’s vice president, business development.
In comparison to copolyesters, DuraStar copolymer requires less drying time, has a more forgiving processing window, and affords faster cycle time, according to Eastman.
