Uniroyal Upgrades Elmira Pilot Plant

Uniroyal Chemical’s global pilot plant currently under construction in Elmira, Ont. will receive an additional multi-million dollar investment for advanced instrumentation and automated equipment, the company announced recently. Uniroyal Chemical’s general manager David Ash said the new investment reflects the company’s strong commitment to the Elmira plant and will enable it to respond to changes in the marketplace more quickly. Ash says the Elmira pilot plant, the only one in the company’s global network, will be used to produce a number of products, including castable liquid urethane pre-polymers, anti-oxidants and other materials. The plant will manufacture sample lots large enough for customers to use in their processes. The plant is expected to begin operations later this year.
