Battenfeld Gloucester Engineering’s new UltraCool air ring can increase output by as much as 30 percent. While the original development goal was to improve the performance on ‘soft’ films typical of some of the lower density metallocene resins that are now in common usage, Gloucester was able to improve the performance across a broad range of products. The new design is simple to adjust with more repeatable settings. It’s more user-friendly for the production environment, and more stable, with very low frost lines.

In comparison with film made on a competitive line equipped with Automatic Profile Control (APC), the UltraCool air ring gave 32 percent more throughput and 25 percent improvement in the gauge variation.
