Premium food storage and preparation container manufacturer, Tupperware Corporation has announced a six percent workforce reduction at the company’s Orlando, FL headquarters. The action relates to global corporate staff functions and will not affect Tupperware’s North America business, which continues to have strong growth, according to a company statement.
The downsizing is part of a three-year re-engineering program to reduce costs by $40 to $50 million dollars per year. Tupperware is a $1.1 billion multinational, direct-selling company.
Lid Maker Opens European Plant
Amhil Enterprises of Mississauga, ON has announced that it will open a new manufacturing facility in Poland. Amhil, which claims to be the largest independent manufacturer of plastic lids in the world, introduced its new European manufacturing capabilities at this year’s K show. The 3200 sq. ft. facility will produce thermoformed plastic lids in a number of materials for a variety of food and packaging applications.
Amhil specializes in small and medium production runs in the food, healthcare, institutional and industrial food service markets. The company offers contract manufacturing of thermoformed plastic components and provides fast-to-market design and manufacturing services.
Diamond Tool Coating, LLC has named Paul A. Otto vice president-general manager of the company. Otto will be responsible for overseeing all sales and production activities. Otto had previously served as vice president for Balzers, Inc., and has extensive experience with physical vapor deposition coating equipment and processes. Diamond Tool Coating, located in North Tonawanda, NY, is a new company that will provide CVD polycrystalline diamond coating service to North American carbide cutting tool manufacturers.
