Manpower Temporary Services Employment Outlook Survey for the third quarter suggests hiring activity not seen since the first half of 1989, with the construction sector leading the way with 50 percent of surveyed firms indication an increase in staffing levels. Expectations in wholesale and retail trades are higher than at any time in the survey’s 36 year history, and services predict hiring to reach levels not seen since the ’80s. Both durable and non-durable goods sectors revealed that fully one-third of respondents will increase staffing in the third quarter, with only six percent expecting reductions.
