AEM-Evertech of Singapore, a leading semiconductor equipment and systems manufacturer, has replaced glass-fibre reinforced PPS with Victrex PEEK polyaryletherketone for the holder components of its range of chemical plating machines.

Holders are an integral part of chemical plating machines, used to carry semiconductor lead frames or connectors. One of the requirements for the replacement material was that it be smooth and non-porous to avoid micro-particles being deposited on the surface that could slowly accumulate.

Victrex PEEK offers high temperature and chemical resistance, as well as very stable electrical properties.

According to John Getz, a Victrex market leader, “switching to Victrex PEEK allowed AEM-Evertech to achieve improved part quality, better plating efficiency, and longer part life. Plus, it allowed them to realize an overall cost advantage over other alternative holder part materials.” The new material also contributed to improved machine reliability and lower maintenance costs.
