Toronto, Ont.-based plastics packager CCL Industries Inc. has acquired the sleeve label business of manufacturing company Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW), which is headquartered in Glenview, Ill. ITW’s shrink-film sleeve labels segment produces shrink-film labels for the European and North American markets in two factories at its Decorative Sleeves division in the U.K. The ITW Auto-Sleeve division, also included in the transaction, has facilities in Austria and Brazil, as well as a sales, service and distribution arm in Twinsburg, Ohio.

Auxiliary equipment manufacturer Hamilton Avtec Inc., based in Mississauga, Ont., has appointed two new sales people.

Phillip Kelly has joined the firm as area manager for western Ontario. He was formerly in sales management with W.R. Grace.

Douglas Hamilton is representing Hamilton Avtec in eastern Ontario. Douglas is the nephew of Richard Hamilton, the president of Hamilton Avtec, and the son of the late Steven Hamilton, founder and president of Newmarket, Ont.-based auxiliary equipment manufacturer SDS Manufacturing Ltd. Douglas has his own company, Hamilton Plastic Machinery Ltd., located in Newmarket, which will represent other equipment manufacturers in addition to Hamilton Avtec.
