Bulk handling equipment manufacturer Mould-tek Industries Inc., based in Toronto, has been appointed exclusive representative in Canada for Chen Hsong, a Chinese maker of injection molding machinery. Mould-tek will also be selling Chen Hsong machines in the U.S., especially in the Northeast.

Dow Chemical Company will terminate its plastics distribution agreement with Columbus, Ohio-based Ashland Distribution in North America with effect from March 2007.

Dow resins will continue to be distributed in Canada by Channel Prime Alliance, and by PolyOne Canada Inc.

Pawcatuck, Conn.-based extruder manufacturer Davis-Standard LLC has been bought by its managers and a group led by Hamilton Robinson LLC, a private equity investor headquartered in Stamford, Conn. According to chemicals supplier Chemtura Corp., which had been the 60 per cent owner of Davis-Standard, the sale was for US$72 million, plus an additional US$8 million that is contingent on certain post-closing determinations.

Injection molding machine manufacturer Engel has opened a 7,500 sq. ft. technical centre and training facility at its manufacturing plant in York, Pa. Located where Engel produces machinery from 600 to 1900 US tons, the centre houses a wide variety of machinery, automation and process technologies.

Monroe, Mich.-based extrusion manufacturer The Spiratex Company has purchased extruder and injection molder R.F. Kelly & Company, which is headquartered in York, Pa. The acquisition increases Spiratex’s manufacturing capacity to over 130 extrusion lines, the company said.
