Moldmaking components manufacturer, Progressive Components International Corp., (Wauconda, IL) is expanding its market in Canada.
Progressive has hired industry veteran Cy McGrath, based in Windsor, ON, who will be the first ever general manager for the firm’s newly formed Canadian subsidiary, Progressive Components Canada Ltd.
Engel’s sales continue to climb
Engel North America (Guelph, ON) sold more than 570 units — machines and robots combined — in 2004. Orders were up 18% in Q1 of 2005 over Q1 2004, driven by demand from the automotive, technical and precision molding sectors as well as the medical industry. In fall 2005, will start production of Engel’s first North American built all-electric press in July 2005.
Alberta storms hamper Nova PE production
Nova Chemicals Corp. (Calgary, AB) will lose about US$25 to US$50 million after severe storms damaged six third-party ethane facilities in Alberta in June.
However, Nova expects to build up its full supply of ethane for polyethylene and ethylene production by the end of the third quarter of 2005.
