Hamilton Avtec Inc., Mississauga, ON, has added two new lines and has hired new staff.

Hamilton is now the Canadian representative for Aoki Technical Laboratory, Inc. (Elk Grove Village, IL), a manufacturer of stretch blow molding machinery. The other new principal for Hamilton is EAS Mold & Die Change Systems (Milwaukee, WI) which offers a complete line of quick mold change and automated mold change systems, including magnetic clamping technology. (EAS is the new name for the company previously known as Enerpac.)

Thomas Garus has joined Hamilton Avtec as technical director. He is in charge of R & D for the line of raw materials handling equipment which Hamilton manufactures. He has formerly held senior design and project management positions at Brampton Engineering and Husky Injection Molding Systems.

The new sales staff at Hamilton are: Denis Dufor, based in Montreal, sales area manager for Quebec; John Bordian, based in Windsor, sales area manager for Western Ontario and Detroit; and Firdosh Irani, based in Mississauga, sales area manager for Eastern Ontario.

Cornerstone Technology Inc. announced a partnership with PARTsolutions that will incorporate the CADKEY interface with PARTsolutions software. The new technology will allow users to set and maintain parts and models that engineers can share regardless of which CAD system they use.

Conoco Carbon Fibers Business has been renamed Conoco Cevolution. The change has been made to better reflect the division’s expanded business scope and the development and integration of several new carbon-based technologies into its growing line of products.

The engineering resins business unit of EMS Group has changed its name to EMS-Grivory from EMS-Chemie. The engineering resins business encompasses Grivory co-polyamides, Grilamid nylon 12 and transparent co-polyamides, and Grilon nylon 6 and nylon 66 materials. EMS-Grivory manufactures in Sumter, SC, Switzerland, Germany and Taiwan.

DuPont Coating & Release Systems has changed the name of its Permacote line of mold release agents to DuPont TraSys mold release agents. The TraSys line of products are ready-to-use release agents for the rubber and plastics molding industry, which include water-based technology for rotational molding and mandrel-built hose industries.

CAD/CAM software supplier Cimatron Technologies Inc. has established a strategic alliance for sales and support with Cimetrix Solutions (Richmond Hill, ON). Cimatron will now have an office in Burlington supplemented by representation in Cimetrix’s Windsor and Toronto offices. Cimatron has more than 500 licences installed in Canada.

DTR Software International (Jacksonville, FL) will now sell its manufacturing and financial management software directly to plastics processors in Canada. The company has terminated its former distribution arrangement, and anticipates direct sales and support will benefit the Canadian consumer through faster support and more up-to-date information.

BASF Corp. has engaged Entec Polymers (Orlando, FL) to be a distributor of its molding and extrusion resins in the U.S. and Canada. The BASF product line includes engineering resins and thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers.

A comprehensive source of downstream equipment for blow molding has been formed following the acquistion of MTM Systems Inc. by Lectro Engineering Co. Inc. (St. Louis, MO). Lectro Engineering is a supplier of 3D plastic surface treatment equipment. The MTM product line includes takeaway systems, deflashing systems, spin trimmers, rotary trimmers, case packers, palletizers and in-mold labeling systems.

ThreeFour Solutions, founded by Jeff Bostic, will represent Plaskolite’s Optix acrylic sheet products in western Canada and the northwest U.S. ThreeFour Solutions is based in Seattle, WA.

Avantra ignition resistant polystyrene, produced by PMC Group Polymer Products, is now distributed in Canada by General Polymers. General Polymers has offices in Montreal, Mississauga, ON and Burnaby, BC.

Ashland Inc. (Dublin, OH) has completed the purchase of Neste Polyester’s business and assets from Dynea Oy. Neste Polyester manufactures and markets high quality unsaturated polyester resins and gelcoats for the marine, building and construction, and transportation industries worldwide.

Hunkar Laboratories Inc. (Cincinnati, OH) has acquired TriData Technologies, an integrator and supplier of barcode product tracking systems. The company will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hunkar. Hunkar supplies process and production data acquisition systems.
