Huntsman Corporation announced it has completed the acquisition of Rhodia’s performance polyether polyol business. Huntsman will manage all aspects of the business, including order processing, technical service, new product development, sales and general inquiries. Rhodia will continue to manufacture polyols at their plant in Mississauga, Ontario through 1999. Huntsman will then transfer production to its manufacturing facilities in Conroe, Texas. Polyols are used primarily in the construction and building industries for insulation in roofs, wall cavities and flooring.

Parker-Lajoie Industries Ltd. of Laval, Quebec, has been selected to represent Cannon USA in Quebec. Parker-Lajoie specializes in sales and service of parts and equipment for the urethanes industry.

M.A. Hanna Company has divested itself of its thermoset resin distribution business. The unit has been sold to Interplastic Corporation of St. Paul, Minnesota in a deal expected to close at the end of the quarter. Terms were not disclosed. Interplastic produces thermoset resins and gelcoats, and distributes throughout the U.S.

ROPAK Materials Handling Group has changed its name to that of its parent company, and is now LINPAC Materials Handling. The HDPE container manufacturer joined the U.K.-based LINPAC Group in 1995.
