1. The Conference Award and Building & Construction Award went to FGL Precision Works Ltd. for a structural road mat molded by Loma Company (see cover story, p. 27). FGL’s vice-president Tom Meisels says FGL built 24 sets of the giant tools for Loma from aircraft aluminum.
2. Horizon Plastics Co. Ltd. won the Judges Award for its structural foam molded, polyethylene “Radbox” underground access chambers. Horizon also won the Industrial Design Society Association’s Design Award for end panels used on shelving units.
3. The Transportation Award went to Decoma International Inc. and its Polyrim Green Lane Division for this two-piece automotive spoiler. The spoiler is made with fast-cycle reaction injection molding from polyurethane and polyurea for its customer, General Motors Corp.
4. Nimmi Bangert, manager B.C. operations, displayed literature and answered questions at the Canadian Plastics Industry Association’s table during the conference.
