A method for purifying mixed plastic/metal auto waste has been patented by researcher at the University of Western Ontario. A dry electrostatic process has been shown to be capable of separating 50:50 mixtures of a number of plastics to above 99% purity. Plas-Sep Ltd. has been incorporated to commercialize this process.
