The SPE Quebec section has announced a number of changes for the 2002-2003 session, including the formation of a new Board of Directors. The Board of Directors consists of three past presidents of the section, as well as new members from McGill University and Ecole Polytechnique. As well, Prithu Mukhopadhyay is the new section president, taking over from Alain Cregheur.

The section also announced that it has established a Section Advisory Board consisting initially of four members: Terry Browitt, Frank Barth, Nelson Wright and Jim Edwards.

According to Mukhopadhyay, the section is seeking to provide members with better value, including technical meetings with more education-oriented content and an improved section bulletin.

The CPIA Western Region has presented Darlene Lynde with its 2002 Alberta Plastics Industry Leader Award. Darlene and her husband Vern founded L&L Tool and Injection Ltd. in1989, as a toolmaking company based in their garage. The company entered the injection molding business in 1992 when it purchased the assets of a local custom injection molding shop in Calgary. L&L specializes in the custom molding of housewares and construction products, but has also recently entered the electronics market. Today, the company’s day-to-day operations are largely run by Darlene and Vern’s three children, Doug, Jason and Sonya.

“Darlene has been a strong supporter of CPIA and has served on committees at both regional and national levels,” says Colin Reichle, CPIA West executive director.
