Maguire Products has received a patent for its method of combining liquid color metering and gravimetric blending. The process results in improved dispersion and reduced colorant costs, says Stephen B. Maguire, president.
The method involves a special adaptor that feeds additive from a liquid color pump to the weigh chamber of a blender. In the mixing chamber, the resin pellets are coated with colorant.
When changing colors, operators simply clean a thin film of colorant from the blending chamber and insert a new tube in the adaptor.
