The down side of creating a toy that fascinates infants is the high standard placed on the materials used in the toy. The soft handle on Sassy Baby Products’ Fascination Station had to be non-toxic, hypo-allergenic, tear resistant (to infant teeth and gums), soft and colorable.
Sassy approached GLS in 1998 seeking an alternative material to overcome a problem of poor adhesion between the soft material and the substrate used in the toy’s handle.
GLS was able to provide a soft thermoplastic elastomer that is overmolded on the polypropylene handle, and exceeds expectations for bonding properties, easy colorability and strength.
