The part is molded on a Krauss-Maffei KM 300-700-55 C2 hydraulic dual shot two- platen injection molding machine. The primary injection unit uses a 45 mm screw, with a barrel capacity of 278 grams. The secondary unit features an 18 mm screw, with a barrel capacity of 18 grams. Both barrel sizes were built at the request of Collins & Aikman, who also specified wider than standard platens to accommodate large tooling.
