HIPS EXTRUSION RESIN IDEAL FOR PACKAGING
BASF has commercially released 486N, a new high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) extrusion resin that offers excellent printability and chemical resistance properties.
The low levels of zinc (less than 50 ppm) and matte finish offered in 486N make the new grade ideal for a variety of packaging and other sheet extrusion applications.

BLOWING AGENT SUITABLE FOR SINK REMOVAL
Holcocell is a new series of highly loaded, resin-encapsulated chemical blowing agents. Applications include structural foam molding, foam extrusions and sink removal. These concentrates offer 30 to 50% active ingredients, maximum gas yield, fast cycle times and dust free handling.
The dispersions are made without exposing the additives to a melt-temperature heat history. The product comes in a range of decomposition temperatures.

FOAMING AGENT HELPS CUT CYCLE TIME
When molding relatively high shrink resins, such as polypropylene, processors often must hold the part in the mold under high pressure for a longer duration to prevent sink marks. But using Foamazol 62 from Bergen International, the internal foaming pressure created by the chemical foaming agent allows the processor to release the mold earlier, thereby reducing cycle time and eliminating sink marks for a Class A surface.
Foamazol 62 is available in pelletized masterbatches, and has been used with PP, ABS, polystyrene, PE and other thermoplastics.
