IBM has chosen Cycoloy C6600 resin and Cycoloy JK500 resin for its new ThinkPad A Series Notebook.

“We needed Eco-label conforming materials for the IBM ThinkPad A Series that offered durability, aesthetics and good flow properties which would allow for thin walls and optimum size,” said Tom Philbrook, IBM’s lead manufacturing engineer for notebooks.

The rear cover and keyboard bezel on the computer is made of Cycoloy C6600, a blend of polycarbonate and ABS, which delivers heat resistance, good impact strength and high flow. The base is made of JK500, a high-impact PC/ABS, 10 percent glass-reinforced resin compounded by GE Plastics Custom Engineered Products group.
